Our daily care

How we care for the children

Daily meals

We are open Monday to Friday, 08h00 - 16h00. Children enjoy a cooked meal after school, plus food to take home for supper.

Food parcels

Given regularly, including during school holidays and the festive season. Depending on how many parcels are donated, we normally give them once per month, and in the holidays extra food to last them.

Homework help and clothing

Caregivers support children with schoolwork and give them donated clothes equally. They also offer emotional support through one-on-one talks. If a matter is serious, it is referred to the nearest social workers.

Guidance and counselling

Daily advice and support with life's problems.

Who we help

Who qualifies?

  • Orphans
  • People living with disabilities
  • Children from poor family backgrounds
  • Abused children

Our main goal

To see children eating healthy, safe, emotionally supported and enjoying their right to education, with no place for child abuse. We also work to help not only the children in our centre, but children in other villages as well.

More we do

Our management and caregivers also do the following

Drawing

Helping children learn to express their emotions through drawing.

Dance

Children form a dance group with caregivers after school and during holidays.

Laundry

Caregivers wash the children's clothes.

Emotional support

One-on-one sessions with children.

What caregivers do besides preparing meals

Paperwork

Filling out forms, sorting, and drafting plans for the new intake of children.

Gardening

Cleaning the outside of the centre and planting vegetables.

Welcoming volunteers

Showing them around the centre and making sure they get all the attention they need.

Our management and caregivers always prepare when welcoming sponsors and partners, including new partners. The children also take part in the preparations, so that funders can see what the children do in the centre.
