Welcome
Thembelihle Homebased Care is a community centre in Mangweni, Kwalugedlane that gives hope to children who have lost one or both parents, children living alone, and children who have suffered abuse. We work so that every child can enjoy the same rights as any other child: safety, food, education and care.
Our caregivers cook for the children after school, help with homework, and offer daily advice and support. Children are also given food to take home for supper, and food parcels, including during school holidays and the festive season.
We work hand in hand with local schools and teachers, social workers, and child and youth care workers, so that every child is seen, protected and supported. Serious cases are reported to management and referred to social workers.
Our objectives
A cooked meal after school, food to take home and parcels in the holidays.
A safe, caring place, with cases of abuse reported and referred to social workers.
Homework help, daily guidance and advice with life's problems.
Clothing, school items and practical help so children can thrive like any other child.
Why it matters
Without a parent at home, a child can face hunger, danger, abuse and emotional distress. Our centre gives children a daily routine of food, care and someone who listens.
News, events and donations received.
To every person, business, company, retailer, school and government partner who has given food, money, clothing or time: you are the reason a child ate today, felt safe and kept hope. Thank you for being the family these children need.
